PsychonautWiki Journal Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 28, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Isaak Hanimann (“I”, “me”, or “my”) handles information when you use the PsychonautWiki Journal mobile application (the “App”) on iOS or Android.
Overview
The App is designed so that your journal content stays on your device. I do not operate a server that receives your journal entries, and the App does not include advertising, third-party analytics, or third-party crash reporting services. The App does use limited third-party services for purchases and, on iOS, optional location and map features.
Information stored on your device
Information you enter in the App is stored locally on your device. This may include experience dates and times, substances and doses, notes, ratings, custom substances, preferences, and any location names or coordinates you choose to save. I do not automatically receive or have access to this journal content.
The App lets you export and import journal data. An exported file can contain all of the journal information described above. You decide where to save or share that file, and any storage or sharing service you select will handle it under that service’s own privacy policy.
Your operating system may include the App’s local data in a device or cloud backup, depending on your device and backup settings. Those backups are controlled by you and handled by Apple or Google, not by me.
Optional location information on iOS
If you grant location permission on iOS, the App can use your current location to help add a location to an experience. The App can also geocode location searches and display maps. Apple’s location, geocoding, and map services may process location coordinates, search text, IP address, and related technical information to provide these features. Any location you add to an experience is stored as part of your local journal data. You can deny or revoke location access in iOS Settings.
Purchases and premium access
The App uses RevenueCat to offer purchases, validate transactions, restore purchases, and determine premium access. RevenueCat receives an automatically generated anonymous App User ID, purchase and entitlement information, and limited device and app technical information. The App does not send RevenueCat your journal entries, notes, saved locations, or contact information.
Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store or by Google through Google Play. Apple or Google may process your store account, payment, transaction, device, and fraud-prevention information. I do not receive your full payment-card details.
Support communications
If you contact me for support, I receive the information you choose to send, such as your email address, message, screenshots, exported data, or technical support information. Please do not send journal content unless it is necessary for your request and you are comfortable sharing it. I use support communications only to respond, troubleshoot, protect the App, and keep necessary business records.
Third-party services and external content
The App may interact with or link to the following services:
How information is shared
I do not sell or rent personal information and do not share journal content for advertising. Information is disclosed only as described in this policy: to service providers needed for purchases or optional platform features; when you choose to export, share, open, or submit information; or when required to comply with law, protect rights and safety, or prevent fraud and abuse.
Data retention and deletion
Journal content remains on your device until you delete it in the App, remove the App, replace it through an import, or otherwise erase the device data. Copies in device backups or files you exported may remain until you delete them from those locations. RevenueCat, Apple, and Google retain purchase-related information according to their policies and legal obligations. Support communications are retained only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above.
Security
The App relies on the security protections of your device. On iOS, you may enable device-owner authentication to lock access to the App; the biometric or passcode check is performed by iOS, and the App does not receive your biometric data. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Protect access to your device and be careful when saving or sharing exported journal files. If you enable notifications, widgets, or Live Activities, journal details may be visible on your lock screen; you can control these features and their previews in your device settings.
Children’s privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent personal information to me, please contact me so I can take appropriate action.
Your choices and rights
You can manage journal content in the App, delete your journal data from its settings, control permissions in your device settings, and manage backups through your Apple or Google account settings. Depending on where you live, you may also have legal rights concerning personal information held by me or processed on my behalf. To make a request, contact me using the address below. I may need your anonymous RevenueCat App User ID, available in the App’s support information, to locate purchase-related records.
Changes to this policy
I may update this Privacy Policy when the App or its data practices change. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
